From a tiny little
homestead in Keaukaha, Kekai Boyz
beginnings consisted of a four member group. Included in the original
four with current members Chris "CMyke" Kua and Uncle Jona was Akoni
Kua (now lead singer/songwriter for SDIB) and John "Pa'ani" Pana.
After the tragic loss of Pana, CMyke wrote the song Empty as a tribute
to his front line partner and then began the hunt to find members that
would complete the unnamed band.
The group then added
another member of the Kua clan, C.J., to
play guitar and also vocalist Will Chu Hing.
Tito was soon added as a vocalist and Avery came in to play the drums.
It was a big plus when the group found out that Avery could sing while
playing the drums.
The final group for their first album, Just An Illusion consisted of
Avery, Tito, C.J., Uncle Jona and CMyke.
Ace Loughmiller came aboard as the group began preparation for their
second album, heart and soul. It was one of the first projects produced
by the talented musician and producer.
And so the Kekai Boyz became a six member band that toured all the
Hawaiian Islands as well as West Coast destinations like Oregon,
California and Nevada.
Kekai Boyz music is available on itunes. And more tracks are sure to
hit your speakers in the near future.
